Quick Answer

Pregnant women, lactating mothers, and mothers of children under 2 from BISP-enrolled households can register for Benazir Nashonuma at a designated Tehsil Headquarter Hospital or Basic Health Unit. The programme pays Rs 2,000 bi-monthly, conditional on health check-up attendance.

What is Benazir Nashonuma?

Benazir Nashonuma is BISP's nutrition support programme targeting the critical "first 1,000 days"window — from conception through a child's second birthday — when proper nutrition has the greatest long-term impact on health and development. The programme provides conditional cash transfers alongside nutrition counseling and health monitoring at designated facilities.

Who Can Register

Eligible registrants must meet both of the following conditions:

  • Be a pregnant woman, a lactating mother, or the mother of a child under 2 years old.
  • Belong to a household that is already enrolled in BISP through the NSER survey (typically as a Benazir Kafaalat beneficiary).

If your household has not yet completed the NSER survey, you will need to register for BISP first — see our NSER Survey Guide — before applying for Nashonuma specifically.

Registration Process

  1. Confirm your household's existing BISP enrollment at 8171.bisp.gov.pk or via SMS to 8171.
  2. Visit your nearest designated Tehsil Headquarter Hospital or Basic Health Unit participating in the Nashonuma programme.
  3. Bring your original CNIC and proof of your household's BISP enrollment.
  4. Complete a health screening and registration with facility staff.
  5. Attend scheduled follow-up health check-ups to maintain your eligibility for ongoing payments.

Already a Kafaalat beneficiary?

Households already enrolled in Benazir Kafaalat are typically prioritized for Nashonuma registration since their base eligibility is already confirmed through the NSER survey — registration at the health facility is usually quick.

Payment Amount & Conditions

Benazir Nashonuma pays Rs 2,000 on a bi-monthly basis to eligible registrants. Unlike the unconditional Kafaalat payment, Nashonuma is a conditional cash transfer — continued payment depends on attending scheduled nutrition counseling and health check-up visits at the registering facility.

For complete programme details including the full eligibility breakdown and health facility requirements, see our full guide: Benazir Nashonuma — Nutrition Support Guide.

How Nashonuma Payments Are Collected

Benazir Nashonuma payments are collected differently from Kafaalat quarterly payments. Because Nashonuma is tied to health facility attendance, the disbursement is coordinated through the health facility network rather than purely through HBL biometric ATMs.

After each scheduled health check-up, the facility submits attendance records to BISP. Once verified, the bi-monthly stipend is processed. Collection is through the same BISP Digital Wallet / HBL biometric system used for Kafaalat — the beneficiary receives an SMS when the Nashonuma payment is ready and can withdraw at an HBL biometric ATM.

In practice, Nashonuma and Kafaalat payments may arrive together or separately depending on when attendance verification is processed. If your Kafaalat payment has arrived but your Nashonuma amount has not, check with your registered health facility that your attendance has been recorded correctly.

Health Attendance — Why It Matters

The conditionality requirement of Nashonuma — that beneficiaries attend scheduled health check-ups — is central to the programme's design. BISP designed Nashonuma as a results-based transfer: payment is tied to behaviour that directly benefits the child's health outcome (regular nutrition monitoring and counseling).

Practically, this means:

  • Missing a scheduled visit without prior notice can result in the bi-monthly payment being withheld for that cycle
  • If you miss a visit due to illness or emergency, inform the health facility staff immediately — most facilities have a process for excused absences
  • Consistently missing visits (without rescheduling) can lead to suspension from the programme
  • The health facility maintains your attendance record — ask for a copy and keep it as proof

Regular attendance is the most important ongoing requirement to keep your Nashonuma payments active.

Nashonuma vs. Kafaalat — How They Work Together

Benazir Kafaalat and Benazir Nashonuma are two separate BISP programmes, but they are designed to work together for eligible households:

Households in both programmes can receive both payments — they do not compete with each other. Kafaalat enrollment is a prerequisite for Nashonuma, but receiving Nashonuma does not affect Kafaalat entitlement.

New Registration Drive 2025

BISP periodically opens new Nashonuma registration windows as health facility capacity expands and new districts are added to the programme. In 2025, new registration drives were announced for:

  • Districts where BISP recently completed Kafaalat enrollment, making more households eligible for Nashonuma
  • Tehsils where new Basic Health Units were brought into the Nashonuma network
  • Areas where the re-verification process identified newly qualifying households

If you are a Kafaalat beneficiary and have not yet enrolled in Nashonuma, or if you have recently become pregnant or given birth, contact your nearest BISP tehsil office to ask whether Nashonuma registration is currently open in your area. You can also call the BISP helpline at 0800-26477 to ask about the Nashonuma registration schedule for your district.

Registration is always free — report any fee request

Benazir Nashonuma registration is entirely free of charge. If anyone asks for a payment to “register you” for Nashonuma, it is fraud. Report immediately to the BISP helpline 0800-26477.
